Citrus Pear™ Partners with Bashas’ Supermarkets to Expand Meal Prep Class Locations

LOGAN, Utah—Healthy meal prep service Citrus Pear™ is partnering with Bashas’ Supermarkets to offer in-person meal preparation classes in several of its stores. The partnership will expand after a successful pilot program to offer six new locations with Litchfield Park and Queen Creek classes launching in April, Maricopa and Tucson in May, and Mesa and Surprise in June. Class sign-ups are open now for Bashas’ Litchfield Park and Queen Creek locations. The first class will be held April 18 in Queen Creek. Individuals interested in signing up for a Citrus Pear™ class can visit citruspear.com/classes.

Citrus Pear™ is a healthy freezer meal prep service available in Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Idaho. Through in-person preparation classes and pre-assembled meals, individuals can receive freezer meals suitable for a slow cooker or pressure cooker. Meals can be accommodated by one of Citrus Pear’s 25 registered dietitians for allergies, food intolerances and special dietary needs.

“At Citrus Pear™, we’re passionate about providing high-quality, healthy and affordable meals to our customers,” said McKenzie Rockwood, registered dietitian and co-founder of Citrus Pear™. “We’re excited to officially partner with a community-centered grocer like Bashas’ Supermarkets as their products and mission align with ours. Our customer base in Arizona is enthusiastic about the collaboration between Citrus Pear™ and Bashas, with multiple requests to open new class locations.”

At a Citrus Pear™ class, individuals receive two hours of guided instruction by a Citrus Pear™ team member. When signing up online, they’re able to choose the number of meals and size they want to prepare. Individuals can select 10 to 20 large meals starting at $215 ($2.69 per serving / feeds 6 to 8 people), or they can choose 20 to 40 medium meals starting at $225 ($2.81 per serving / feeds 3 to 4 people). All freezer meals are pre-planned by Citrus Pear’s registered dietitians, and all ingredients are freshly picked ahead of time.

“Convenience, savings and the ability to provide quality, healthy meals for their families are important to our customers. Which is why the partnership between Bashas’ and Citrus Pear is such a great fit,” said David Herrera, director of operations for Bashas’ Supermarkets, “As an Arizona-based company celebrating 90 years of serving communities across Arizona and New Mexico, we are proud to be the first grocer in Arizona to pilot and now to expand these in-store classes.”

Rockwood founded Citrus Pear™ in 2016. While working as a registered dietitian at Logan Regional Hospital in Utah, McKenzie saw a need to make healthy eating easy for individuals and families, and she wanted to provide a tool for them to apply these lifestyle changes. Rockwood oversees recipe and menu development for Citrus Pear™ and enjoys helping people adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles. Last year, she was recognized as a Young Dietitian of the Year by the Academy of Nutrition of Dietetics.
